I want to hear from those of you who have successfully gotten your newborn to take long naps.

I have a 6 month old and she is definitely a cat napper. She takes 20 min naps and wakes up everytime a Safe Auto commercial comes on.

She likes to have a little noise in the room while she sleeps. So now I am starting to realize that maybe the t.v. isnt' a good idea.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a toy you used successfully that wasn't extremely loud but soothing?

We have a noise machine in my 4 months room.  Her room is at the very top of the stairs and with two other kids there is a lot of noise.  I think it helps.  It's just a brooke or something but it's just a little bit of a muffle.  Maybe even a humidifier.
The other thing I swear by is the miracle blanket but your little one might be too old now to start that.  We swaddled all of our kids and it's by far the best blanket.  I love it.  I really think it helps her sleep better at night and during naps.

Good luck!! I know your pain.

I run a fan that really isn't a fan anymore. I just use it for the noise. I just think Kennedy is to darn noisy and I also have to blame myself for letting her sleep with your pacifier in her mouth.

I think that is most likely why she keeps waking up. She's used to it being in her mouth so after  a couple of hours she wakes up and needs it back in her mouth.

So I'll take the blame on this one. Roll Eyes

That is hard.  She'll eventually get it.  Cora falls asleep with her paci but she spits it out after a few minutes.  I can't get her to sleep without her swaddle blanket now.  And she's addicted to it.  I don't know how to get her to sleep without it. She keeps breaking out and waking up.  I guess it's always something!
